PERRY: I think in America from time to time we have to go through some difficult times — and I think we’re going through those difficult economic times for a purpose, to bring us back to those Biblical principles of you know, you don’t spend all the money. You work hard for those six years and you put up that seventh year in the warehouse to take you through the hard times. And not spending all of our money. Not asking for Pharaoh to give everything to everybody and to take care of folks because at the end of the day, it’s slavery. We become slaves to government.

Because in the minds of these ignorant fools, everything is a part of "God's Plan." By chalking it up to divine will, it effectively absolves all personal responsibility for human problems.

Climate change and the inability of late-stage, post-industrial Capitalism with the government and corporate interest that have fused into a singular operating unit don't matter! Because the cosmic Jewish Sky Daddy is coming back! "...the public is divided over whether Jesus Christ will return to earth by 2050. About four-in-ten (41%) expect Jesus Christ to return"

Yes, that's right, 4/10 people comprising our delusional citizenry think Jesus is coming back by 2050. Who needs to worry about the future of survival human kind, the worries of the next generation, and whether the the oceans become saturated with C02 causing mass extinction, Jesus is coming back in just a few short decades! That surely shortens our planning horizon!
