Wow. That is an impressive editorial. I should say, I don't feel as confident as he does that there is zero terrorist threat - it's just, I wish people would place their priorities in accordance with the cold hard numbers. The World Trade Center bombings killed 3,000 people, and that's terrible - but that's still less than the amount by which traffic fatalities dropped from 2008 to 2009 in a continuing trend due to anti drunken driving campaigns, seat belts, and other safety devices ( http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1043314_u-s-traffic-fatalities-hit-historic-lows ). Realistically, it makes sense to be paying an equal amount of money to fight terrorism and to promote automobile safety - if there is a World Trade Center attack every year. Otherwise we should recognize that the traffic cops are overwhelmingly the ones defending our country from real danger.

the war on terror is totally trumped up to allow the powers that be to wage war just about anywhere and with whoever they want, this includes US citizens conveniently labeled "terrorists".
