After three innings, your team is down 12 to 3 because your pitcher has only one pitch - a fast ball. A new, relatively untried pitcher comes in and pitches for the next three innings, during which time the other team has no hits; your team rallies because they haven't been working their butt off in defense, so after the second three innings, the score is 12 to 12. Why on earth would you send in a pitcher who has the exact same limited pitch as the first pitcher and whose background is as a manager of a team with lackluster performance?
