The world has become a bad game of monopoly. Remember at the end when your sister or brother ends up owning all properties, and it becomes not worth the aggravation or rolling the die. Our country is at this exact point. Do we throw out all players and start again or just quit into socialism? Capitalism is great as long as the "rules" are "equal" and clear to all people with a 12th grade education.
Imagine: you have 100 players and only 1 of them owns from Illinois Avenue all the way around to GO. This is exactly what we have today 40% owned by 1%. More importantly it leaves 99 people chasing what little is left. It’s mathematically impossible to sustain a society. Next time you go to play monopoly with your kids start the board like this… with you being the 1%...even a 7 year old would be smart enough not to play.
Imagine Again: this one player (also the banker) counts and distributes the money to the others who are not allowed to be in the room when he pays himself and the others. Checking his math is also not allowed by this rule book....just take his word.
Imagine Again: The rule book has been rewritten by a very sophisticated lawyer with political ambitions. The only person who can understand it is the one player since he is the only one who can afford to pay the lawyer. Once again the other players are NOT allow in the room during rule writing. Let’s hope they don’t connive….hmmmm.
Imagine Again: The rules somehow say the banker gets to roll twice every time. And if he lands on the $100 fine for luxury tax he only has to pay $15 instead of $30. The other 99 players will have to make up the difference.
Where does this game go???
pure capitalism assumes unlimited resources. Monopoly has limited resources and ends when one person owns all the resources and nobody else can afford to rent/buy resources from the one owner.
A mere 150 to 200 years ago it appeared to humans that the Earth had unlimited resources - we blew smoke from smokestacks into the air, polluted our streams, lakes, and oceans, and have harvested Earth's resources as if they were unlimited. But we're now just starting to see/feel the effects of limited resources on the world economy.
Monopoly is a horrible game to teach children.
