An email "newsletter" from my congressman [until redistricting takes effect in November] talked about the "good news" of the SCOTUS "Hobby Lobby" decision. US Rep. Lamar Smith, in his 'July Update' said:

"The Supreme Court's recent ruling in the Hobby Lobby case is a victory for religious freedom all across America. The Court rightly affirmed that the Obama administration cannot require family owned companies to provide a product or service in violation of their religious beliefs."

How does support for employers' power to impose their religious views on their employees expand freedom of anything other than the license of owners to make their worker/peons more like slaves? The freedom to enslave, which "states rights" and the Confederacy have ever promoted, is not merely ironic; it's a perverse and evil notion. But it's typical of the thoroughly dishonest and insincere (not to mention specious) conservatism of 21st Century America. It boggles my mind that anyone can fall for such a limited concept of liberty. It is one that promotes the tyranny of the elites, who desire to dominate their "dependents." Conservatism today is a retreat to the mentality of the dark ages, when feudalism incubated like the disease contemporary cons have become. Their existence is a threat to the survival of the human race.
