This is preposterous but true
They have gotten wealthy by destroying smaller communities and numerous jobs by undercutting the competition through the selling of cheaply made Chinese products.
They are to be held guilty of this systematic destruction of communities.
"But they create jobs!" "They create wealth!" "They give to charity!"
Sorry about that. I had to put my head in a vice. I was trying to understand how so many people can defend the rich. Its out now. Those brain cells are beginning to recover. Say that reminds me...
We were all born with a natural instinct to gather and store for survival. A natural instinct to care for family and community. This is human nature.
When modern society was formed, we began to sell out our natural instincts. Survival turned into survival with a little more elbow room. Then survival with a little more elbow room and a nice view. Then survival with a little more elbow room, a nice view, and something pretty to hang around our neck.
Fast forward a few thousand years. With the industrial revolution, came mechanized transportation, modern housing, air conditioning, and television.
We had become somewhat spoiled. Somewhat motivated. Still relatively down to Earth. Still modest enough to appreciate one another, care for one another, and work towards a common goal.
Along the way, the potential for increased personal wealth became more and more intoxicating. Now, the vast overwhelming majority want to be rich. They want it so badly, they are willing to sell out basic morality to attain it. They WILL sell out basic morality if given the opportunity.
How can I be so sure? That's easy. Human nature plus years of corrupt influence plus opportunity.
Mother Nature did not plan for modern society. She did not plan for extreme personal wealth. Once attained, we become fully intoxicated. We simply can not process the concept without being corrupted by it. Without compromising our basic morality.
Extreme personal wealth is the single greatest corrupt influence of modern society. With every 'zero' on the paycheck, our basic instincts to care for family and community are compromised.
Those of you who still aren't convinced, consider this:
If God himself gave you the power to end poverty, bring about world peace, and take a bonus of $100,000,000 for yourself, would you do it?
If God himself gave you the power to end poverty, bring about world peace, OR take a bonus of $100,000,000 for yourself, which would you choose?
Which would the vast overwhelming majority choose?
Why are the richest men and women in the world so incredibly determined to get even richer?
How did the world's wealth become so incredibly concentrated?
Why is the concept of a partial redistribution for the good of all so incredibly divisive and controversial?
How is it that virtually every developed nation in the world has become riddled with fear, instability, and rising debt?
How have so many world leaders and those affiliated become even richer as their own economies falter?
The answer is greed. The obsessive desire for extreme personal wealth. It's become a worldwide epidemic.
Not only is the greatest concentration of wealth in world history the single greatest underlying cause of economic instability. The very concept of extreme personal wealth is the most intoxicating and corrupt influence in the history of mankind.
There will be no recovery.
So the F _ what! That family became wealthy by providing goods and services that people (including me) want. I applaud their ability to create such wealth! There is not a finite,( "only so much" for you mental midgets out there), amount of wealth. If you want wealth, create it! Take responsibility for your own destiny and stop trying to take it from those who work and create! If Walmart beats out competition, so be it! If people would rather buy from them at a better price and better or the same quality, more power to them! I am so sick of this class warfare and class envy crap that comes straight out of Marx! That is not what this country is about, and those who think so are a very small, insignificant minority. Grow up and occupy yourself!
Hard to imagine with numbers. I like to think about the 6 heirs as basically "owning" 15 states. Maybe they have "mortgages" on those states, but jeez, that's a lot of money. Truly hard to imagine...
I already told you once, every square inch of united states, almost without exception, was in fact, made collateral on the still outstanding 1933 bankruptcy that FDR signed. And it didn't stop there.
You didn't do well in history classes, did you?
Could you post a link to details of the 1933 bankruptcy? THX.
Well documented in completeness and readily available. About the first thing FDR did upon entering office.
If every Walmart in the USA was nationalized, every worker could get 100% health care coverage, increased wages, increased benefits and the executives of walmart could STILL MAKE $1,000,000's per year!
yes a sad inditement on the current system. if the social costs of wallmart goods were included in the price ie. the employees on foodstamps, wellfare, subsidized housing, medicare/medicaid because of their suppressed wages no one would want their expensive but cheap quality chinese goods.
SO?
Then STOP shopping at Walmart! Its so Easy its hurr derr!!
The process making them rich is the manufacture by US factories of our everyday products overseas, mostly in China.
These cheap to manufacture, because of exchange rates, goods are in all of the stores yet the prices are about the same as when the products were made in the US leading to high profits.
The FBI handbook says that probably indicates price-fixing and as there were 38,000 discovered cases of price-fixing in China last year it's probably true, their certainly isn't competition.
and if no one buys these things at walmart .... ............................................................................................................................. buy american, people. buy local. stay out of walmart.
For most of the products made in China there are not American made products for similar prices.
Either companies moved their factories to China or they went out of business from the competition from the companies that moved their factories to China.
I went online to buy a pair of New Balance tennis shoes, the only US tennis shoe maker, and the price of the shoe had gone from $29.99 ten years ago to $140.00.
I guess with all of their suppliers gone they had to make everything themselves in small quantities which is really expensive.
Remember the good ole days of Sam Walton and his buy American BS. We are to blame for buying slave made products and their pollution problems. Maybe we could get them to buy the government.
