We all know that the corporations are the root of all evil and needs to be punished for being naughty. We all know that the best way to punish corporations is to stop buying their products. So I have made a list. It's a very short list and will hit the corporations hard.

1) Stop buying gas. Every single drop of gas is pumped by large corporations using equipment from other large corporations.

2) Stop using electricity. See above.

That's it. So who is with me?

Yeah, and while you're at it... stop using the Sun to produce vitamin D, they own that too!

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Oh now you've gone too far! OCCUPY the sun! :)

I would but then I wouldn't be posting this comment :-) So I would prefer to reduce my usage of fossil fuels and move to alternative renewable energy. There are many sites that will give you a good idea your carbon footprint. You can reduce your impact by 50-75% - that would be a good start... And you can still post since you will have electricity.

How does this punish crooked & deceptive lenders who crashed the economy though?

[-] 2 points by thebeastchasingitstail (1912) 13 years ago

Five things?

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

The other three will be automatic.

1) No internet

2) No cell phones and ipads

3) no heating in the camp site

[-] 1 points by Tommiethenoncommie (211) 13 years ago

No bottled water? We need water.

[-] 1 points by Outlier (115) 13 years ago

you left out no eating food.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

Eating food grown by yourself without use of fertilizers (natural fertilizers like shit is OK) is fine, but only if you cook it with woodfire.

[-] 1 points by Outlier (115) 13 years ago

100% of people who eat food will eventually die!

[-] 0 points by RichardGates (1529) 13 years ago

lmao. to true.

[-] 1 points by Outlier (115) 13 years ago

thanx for the clarification.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

And you HAVE food grown by yourself without fertilizers and the woodfire to cook it on? You realize that if everyone resorts to using firewood-it will just turn loggers into millionaire corporations right?

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

Collect your own wood. Don't be a naysayer. Be an agent of change.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Um....collect your own wood.....would mean that you actually OWNED land that has wood on it. It's called trespassing to venture onto someone else's land and take THEIR wood. And you're going to have to be able to haul it home without using gasoline....

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

Then lay a big log in the morning and light it.

[-] 0 points by Tommiethenoncommie (211) 13 years ago

In a bag?

[-] -1 points by TheREAL99 (120) 13 years ago

Wet logs do NOT burn, even in OWS lollipop land.

[-] -1 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

And where are you laying this big log? Do you own this big log?

[-] 1 points by Tommiethenoncommie (211) 13 years ago

Burning wood = carbon dioxide and oxygen depletion. Wood comes from trees. Trees make oxygen.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

OK, then use a solar cooker.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

I've done with out electricity before the age of the internet

I could stop buying gas

I have a friend that lives 30 miles away that I visit 3 times a week

the bus trip would cost $5 each which is barely a savings

though I am considering that and bike riding

[-] -1 points by TheREAL99 (120) 13 years ago

Sorry MattLHolck , No buses allowed. Go ahead & hoof it 30 miles each way 3 times a week.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

that's a three hour ride by bicycle

[-] 0 points by TheREAL99 (120) 13 years ago

Comrade MattLHolck,

The Spokes Missing Council has decided your bicycle is need by the Peoples' Revolution. If you want to visit your "friend", the Spokes Missing Council has decided you may walk.

Any disagreement or opposition of Spokes Missing Council decisions is NOT allowed.

Long Live The Revolution !!!

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

LOL!

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Vlad will tell you that "some sacrifices need to be made to punish the big corporation". That includes your calves.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

10 pounds grain for 1 pound of beef

3 pounds of grain for 1 pound of chicken

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Sorry....that includes your chicken legs?

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

that's below the belt

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Well of course it was!~ That's where legs are!

[-] -1 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Um....the bus uses gasoline. And electricity.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

sorry I was rationing the energy out

[-] 1 points by nickhowdy (1104) 13 years ago

Some dyslexic people confuse 5's for 2's.. ..One day Vlad we may stop using electricity and it won't be voluntary...It would be the best thing for us, in regard to psycho banker prevention . One problem though, many people will die...

[-] 1 points by ritacon (29) 13 years ago

Now they're making threats.

[-] 0 points by juco (77) 13 years ago

I'm giving up food - that'll show 'em!!!

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

1) Good idea. You lose your job because you can't get to work without gasoline and that will free up the jobs market for the rest of us.

1.A) do you realize how many things in this world are MADE using petroleum? Put that MAC book down and back away Vlad! Here's a list of things you can no longer use that are made out of "gas" http://www.ranken-energy.com/Products%20from%20Petroleum.htm

2) Cool! Less stress on the "grid" for the rest of us which means cheaper electricity bills. Oh, but you guys will need to stop using your laptops, cell phones and anything else that needs to be "charged". And that sucks for you hybrid drivers because you can't use gasoline OR electricity. And all those batteries you'll need to survive are going to raise HELL for the environment.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

Sometimes sacrifices need to be made to punish the corporations.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

And some sacrifices won't even be noticed by the corporations because there aren't as many of you as you think there are.

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

You start small and grow big.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

And you've got your garden all started....oh wait...it's winter...can't do that. You've got all the produce from your former garden all bottled and stored up somewhere that you don't need gasoline to reach or electricity to cook etc? And all that firewood chopped and stacked? And live where it's legal to use an outdoor fire to cook it?

[-] 0 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

When there is a will there is a way. If you want to make the corporations suffer then you have to be willing to suffer yourself.

[-] -1 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Your "will" has nothing to do with the fact that food doesn't grow in the winter UNLESS you use electric lights. Or that you'll get shot and/or arrested for chopping down trees you don't own. Or that you'll starve to death waiting for your little garden to produce food.

Those are cold hard facts and your will doesn't change them.

[-] 1 points by SpaghettiMonster (90) 13 years ago

Who "owns" the trees then? The concept of ownership really is a strange thing indeed. We use matter, physics and whatnot to our advantage - but why does everything have to be "owned" by someone. I'm really not arguing with you, I agree with most of what you've said on the previous comments. It's just really a sad little hominid reality we've created for ourselves when we speak of owning everything - my trees and your trees, my dirt and your dirt! How about, "our" dirt... "our" planet. Or, how about.. my Sun? Sounds reasonable, I've always wanted to own a Sun!

[-] -1 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

It may be a sad little hominid reality, but it is reality nontheless. My point is that a group of people trying to reinvent society by taking things that the rest of society still views as private property-will not turn out well for them.

You wanna do that, I might suggest starting with getting a "consensus" from society at large to frown on shooting people who steal.

[-] 2 points by SpaghettiMonster (90) 13 years ago

We'll see how it works out in the long run - honestly I could care less, I've no more stake in humanity. My time will soon be up, and all of this bickering will just be done.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 13 years ago

Godspeed on your journey. :-)

[-] 1 points by ValerieSolanasAKAHippieChick (29) 13 years ago

Jesus Christ, who said anything about stealing from others.

The S.C.U.M. is so disingenuous.

[-] 1 points by thebeastchasingitstail (1912) 13 years ago

In Venezuela, gas is 12 cents a gallon.

I can't give up the internet, I'll be unemployed if I do.

Didn't know that the highway system was once private and was then nationalized.

[-] 1 points by ValerieSolanasAKAHippieChick (29) 13 years ago

What does it matter if it was "once" private?

It's public, SCUM, and you use it don't you?

What a disingenuous piece of bourgeois garbage you are.

S.C.U.M.

[-] -1 points by TheREAL99 (120) 13 years ago

I love the idea.

That means the McDonald's toilet will be closed in the morning because the employees that keep the doors open for the OWSers could not get to work because of no electricity for the subways.

That means there will be no breakfast for the OWSers in the morning because the chefs that cook the free food & the people that bring you the free food could not do those things without electricity.

I am sure in their hungry & constipated condition tomorrow morning the OWSers will blame their troubles on BUSH !!!

[-] -1 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 13 years ago

I am shocked to see that OWS supported are not willing to make any sacrifices to punish the corporations. This is what allows corporations to get away scott free as they offshore jobs.
