Who regrets getting a liberal arts degree? Was 200K worth it for a drama major?
Blame the Colleges, Universities run by the liberals for your problems.
engineers are one of the best paid straight out of college
As a college student, I wish that I had more time to explore what I'd like to major in before being pigeonholed into one. Besides, you're stuck with your job for the rest of your life, so it has to be something you tolerate and enjoy to some degree.
Wtf? People pay that much for a waste of time degree?
The "high cost" of higher education is an expense inflated by a society (now several hundred years old) that rewards college graduates in terms of self-esteem OVER the grade-school or high school graduate who might actually seek to find worth and happiness in desperately needed trades that provide the means for the so-called knowledge society to thrive.
HE is now big business, driven in the US by the College Board and ETS via ridiculous ranking and national tests that serve only to homogenize admission processes and the rather un-innovative input and output.
The degree one pursues is not so much a problem as the price tag coupled to notions of class, prestige, and the false promise of success. It's a shame really. From a professor who is trying in her own way to change the scene!
true. the cost is too much for higher education. BUT some people get degrees in things that have a better outlook for jobs and still can't pay off there loans. not everyone who supports is a drama art major btw...
i agree we should 'protest' high cost of education.
for example, those "for-profit" schools. people get nurseing degrees and pay as much as i did for my social sciences degree! and while they may have been able to get a job, can't pay off loans because they don't make enough.
