An Occupy Wall Street Manifesto (15 Ideas)
1.Eliminate tax loopholes. 2.Require all shareholders & owners, including subsidiaries, vote on lobbying effort before allowing to implement. 3.For each lobbying effort, require easily-accessible publication of lobbying goals, owners, targeted Congressman. 4.Reinstate “The Truth in Reporting” Act. 5.Require the facts / innuendos be vetted by an independent group before allowing political /issue ads to be broadcast. 6.Run “Credits” for every political add stating top 10 donors by name. 7.Require all ads / articles refer the viewer / reader to nationally recognized independent fact check sites like Politico and one for PAC ownership. 8.Implement a national mechanism for direct voting, similar to the one for bringing local issues / propositions to a vote. 9.Allow one week for the public to have access and read any bill before the final vote is to occur. 10.Require that a Congressman or committee “own” every word change from the bill's inception. 11.Require a expeditious vote on all appointees with the third appointee being automatically accepted. 12.Allow clawbacks and legal action against corporate boards and officials of companies. 13.Disallow any off-book accounting of any type. 14.Create a system of random professional juries to reduce the time of trial. 15.Tax all practicing law firms with the funds to be used in defending those without representation.
All except 15 are good. Tax firms are already being taxes just like any other firm. We cannot have a policy of penalizing someone to pay for someone else.
