I want our government to stop wasting money on "the war on drugs". I can't help but laugh whenever I hear an anti-argument of "but then it's use will spread...". It can't be any more available than it is today. All our criminalization has done is ensure that criminals control the marijuana trade.

Kinda funny though that those currently in the "industry" really don't want to see it legalized. There is a show on History channel where the few counties in California where it's currently grown (Humboldt county if I recall?) really would see their local economy wiped out because legalization means it would be grown "in the valley" right alongside much of this nations vegetables...

http://www.JeffBlock2012.com would legalize marijuana if 65,000,000 people vote to do so...and I'm sure we'd have 20,000,000 to start...

it will be the fastest way to solve the deficit.

if that's what you want, then vote libertarian. The reps and the Dems are paid by the tobacco companies

We should keep Marijuana illegal so the price can remain high, and the Mexican drug cartels can make huge profits, kill a lot of people and continue to paying the DEA to help maintain their profits. Every American knows that's best because it said so on the one source of truth - the TV

vote ron paul. he will legalize weed

Marijuana is not dangerous. Yet it's still a level 1 controlled substance (or whatever the lingo is now), meaning that--in the eyes of the Federal Govt.--the drug (1) has no useful medical purpose (neither does Alcohol derp derp) and (2) it is HIGHLY addictive and dangerous. The DEA is a terrible organization. Even good ole' Justice Scalia basically said that Federal drug prosecution is unnecessary and unduly burdensome.

I appreciate that you feel strongly about this, but you know that a significant number of Americans are against legalization. Please table agendas that wouldn't be supported. All you're doing is pushing conservatives away from joining and inviting them to attack us as a liberal-leaning group.

We have more than enough on our plates right now just advocating ending corruption.

Okay?

@imrational, advocating the end of corruption in the political system and rescheduling a.k.a legalizing cannabis have a lot in common. The federal government currently holds a stance saying that cannabis has no medicinal value meanwhile they also supply select american's with medical cannabis under the IND program and they also hold the only U.S. patent on the medicinal properties of cannabinoids which are the active ingredients in cannabis.

http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10/17/record-high-50-of-americans-favor-legalizing-marijuana-use/ This most recent gallop poll show's that 50% of Americans support the legalization of cannabis meanwhile 46% don't. In my eye's that say's that more then just a significant number Americans do support the legalization of cannabis. I see no reason why these people shouldn't be represented at OWS or the GA.

So no, it's not okay.

oh you did say it! Can't say it enough though. We do want it. When we have Bloomberg, Obama, Gingrich, etc etc all admitting they smoked and "got away" with it, there's no excuse for continuing to lock young people up and deprive sick people of pain relief.

I'm editing this comment. What you're saying is just stupid. Show me the "significant" number of Americans that are against legalization. California's referendum almost passed, and the people that VOTE do NOT represent the majority of Americans. (Some people aren't even allowed to vote, cough e.g., a person who has a felony on his or her record, maybe for possession of marijuana)? Herp Derp.

What he's saying is not stupid. You're protesting for marijuana legalization on Wall Street? Seems like there is a better time and place for that. AND amidst all the people trying to discredit OWS for not having a particular purpose...it does not help. We need everyone to be driving home the point that we are for getting money out of politics. Reversing the citizens united decision made by the supreme court and for justice to be done for the felonies committed up to and during the savings and loan crisis and for those which are still being committed. I think these things are MUCH more important than marijuana legalization. (Which I agree with should be legal)

Polling indicates over 50% of Americans now favor legalization.

Civil disobedience! Operation Re-Introduce Cannabis - plant cannabis seeds everywhere.

[-] 1 points by Dymmesdale (5) 13 years ago

This alone would do a lot to boost the economy, but the trick is to keep it out of the hands of megacorporations when it does get legalized.

It will be produced by the cigarette companies before the ink is dry on the legislation.

http://www.JeffBlock2012.com - the platform includes "we can not legislate morality..."
