Obama should not offer anything
but
if he had to - here is it:

"If the House and Senate both pass a full repeal
of the whole ACA, I will sign it"

he doesn't have to offer shit

20 odd repelicans can sign a discharge petition

there are something like 230 of them. Fuck them

End the Sequester

Fund the Government

fools

Repelicans get Nothing

The next time the House sends a "re-fund" the WIC program - the Senate should pass it for at least a year
AT DOUBLE THE FUNDING

At this point, he shouldn't offer a damn thing. Nothing.

twitterverse rumor has it the repelicans plan to default on debt at this point. It could be a trail balloon to see how that sits among supporters. IF they go that far I think repelicans will take the hit.

NYT reports Obama Sets Conditions for Talks: Pass Funding and Raise Debt Ceiling

I say if they want to default then we should have a national strike.

you fukers want a shutdown? We can give you a fuking shutdown. We can shut it ALL DOWN

Orangeman said he will NOT let America default -
for what thats worth
lets face it - he is an Rs
but he is not crazy

his wall st owners would crush him like a bug
I would guess the dow would immediately drop 1000+ pts
and proceed to drop another few thousand in a month or two
and bonds would loose 20% - 30% of their value
and mortgage and variable rate loans will become 20%-30% more expensive

What I said earlier: see http://www.salon.com/2013/10/04/yes_republicans_are_using_extortion_theres_no_sense_in_denying_it/

  • Republicans say shutting down the government is really bad. But they won’t reopen it unless they get some kind of Obamacare scalp from President Obama. So as bad as a shutdown is, it’s worse than the alternative of not shutting down services, furloughing hundreds of thousands of people, but not getting a unilateral concession, even a trivial one, from Obama.

  • The only way to rationalize the GOP’s parallel debt limit threats is with the same logic. Defaulting on the debt and tanking the economy would be terrible, Republican leaders agree, but worse would be to avoid another global recession and get nothing from Obama.

and if the President does not cave and allow him /the party to save face? To save credibility? To save power?

Can they all go home and say - we shut down the government and we got nothing- can they do that? Because I don't think they can. I don't think their pride will let them.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 6 months ago

I do hope that it is clear that my proposal is the same as nothing..
If the Rs accepted this deal, would the tp really accept this as a good deal to ssave face - or would the tp just see thier employees as the idiots they are.

I've seen some argue that the Civil War was unnecessary. I do not believe that to be true at all - for an entire social and economic structure had grown up around slavery - it could not be relinquished without wholesale slaughter on an epic scale.

This ship of state has been threatened with mutiny, and in much the same way as slavery, it will not be retaken except by force. Three decades ago a small handful of men set about stacking the Supreme Court with appointees sympathetic to the interests of money. Today we have a supreme court ruling called Citizens United, which permits the subjugation of Congressional leaders to the interests of money and does so at some considerable expense to the people.

We see this clearly with the current shutdown of the federal government.

This has been a long time in coming, and will not be rectified without massive amounts of blood.

Red.

American.

Blood.

I recently heard a useful term - NEOCONFEDERATE

this may be sacrilege, but consider what would have happened if
Lincold decided not to stop the CSA

my guees is that before 1880: USA would have barreled ahead into the 20th century with civil rights, education, manufacturing international trade.
CSA would have bogged down in a three class society swamp
plantations, poor whites, slaves
the slaves would have flooded N into USA
(like the 1960s East Germans that saw WG next door) the poor whites would have woken up to the fact that their CSA was not for them but for the plantation owners

Between the flood of labor moving north, . the anger of poor whites,
the stagnation of the CSA economy,
and the total success of a nation next door,
the CSA would BEG for reunification
and they woulud be happy to abandon the anti-American
neoconfederate philosophy that infests our country today

Let them secede you mean. I see. I don't know what would have happened, except that my great great grandfather probably would have been hung rather than get released early from the clutches of Kentucky authority.

It's not like the government is talking about it's drone and bomb policy with the people either
